Enhanced Security
Security can be enhanced with managed voice services in several ways. You get better control over calls, help prevent toll fraud and you can institute certain emergency procedures.

Improved control
The NameConnector® transfers calls only to names or destinations that are in the registry.  The registry is a dynamic, secured database that is updated only by the customer.  The customer decides which destinations are reachable by the NameConnector.  If an unauthorized caller calls the NameConnector, the only call they can make is to a destination in the registry.  There is no access to the switch through the NameConnector.

Preventing Toll Fraud
Since managed voice services allow you to control the destinations, transfers are only made to phone numbers that appear in the system. So, if you do not allow the name and number to be added, the number will not be dialed.

This allows you to provide extensive access to approved numbers from open phones without being exposed to toll fraud. It also encourages staff to use the NameConnector to contact remote locations using the lowest cost route.
